18c FILIGREE MEDAL ROSARY

"BRIGANTTINE ROSARY"
ANTIQUE FILIGREE
'ROSENKRANZ'
Purchased in 1999 in Southern Bavaria near the site of the Passion Play, this antique filigree rosary or 'Rosenkranz' is not all that far from its origin. Very popular during the 17th, 18th and 19th century, these rosaries are still made (as of 2007) but very hard to find. A shop in Oberammergau carries new ones from the Bavarian Forest.
+
A great find, this rosary along with several others of similar design and  quality were in the window of an Antique shop on a side street in Ober Ammergau. Dealer dated this rosary as late 18c. Private Collection
