THE PRAYER TO ST MICHAEL
The story of how the prayer was written by Pope Leo XIII: 'After celebrating Mass, the Holy Father was conferring with his cardinals. Suddenly, he fell to the floor. The cardinals immediately called for a doctor. No pulse was detected, and the Holy Father was feared dead. Just as suddenly, Pope Leo awoke and said, "What a horrible picture I was permitted to see!" In this vision, God gave Satan the choice of one century in which to do his worst work against the Church. The devil chose the 20th century. This vision moved him to composed the prayer to St. Michael the Archangel.

... ABOUT 'NINER' CHAPLETS ...
So these little 'Niner' chaplets with 3 sets of 3 beads have been around a long time, they have a history. Its more than just a tradition, as it appears, they also carried certain indulgences. Why such a large medal? We were inspired by pieces we saw in an antique shop in Munich several years ago that carried larger medals and reliquaries. We see the smaller medals more often these days and they are easier to keep in a pocket, but for home or altar use, the larger ones open up a moment of visual history that gifts us with a sense of a long lineage of prayer partners in the Communion of Saints. A beautiful medal for deep meditation and prayer for not only our sons and daughters but our grandchildren.

ST MICHAEL
(Hebrew: 'Who is Like God')
St. Michael is believed in both the Old (Jews) and New Testaments (Christians) as the ultimate protector and defender of their faith and as God's soldier, who defeated Satan in the war between good and evil. He is also recognized as the patron saint of the paratroopers around the world. (see Daniel (X, 12:2) where Michael fights Satan and his angels in a heavenly battle.) He is also the patron saint of policemen, knights, grocers, sickness and pilgrims. In Normandy St. Michael is the patron of mariners in his famous sanctuary at Mont-Saint-Michel in the Diocese of Coutances. St. Michael's color is blue. Feast day, September 29th.

... SPIRITUAL BATTLE ...
"May prayer strengthen us for the spiritual battle we are told about in the Letter to the Ephesians: "Draw strength from the Lord and from His mighty power" (Ephesians 6:10). The Book of Revelation refers to this same battle, recalling before our eyes the image of St. Michael the Archangel (Revelation 12:7). Pope Leo XIII certainly had a very vivid recollection of this scene when, at the end of the last century, he introduced a special prayer to St. Michael throughout the Church.

2.. To rescue souls of the faithful from the power of the enemy, especially at the hour of death.
3. To be the champion of God's people, the Jews in the Old Law, the Christians in the New Testament;
therefore he was the patron of the Church, and of the orders of knights during the Middle Ages.
3. To call away from earth and bring men's souls to judgment

... DONT MESS WITH ST MICHAEL ...
When we were trying to complete this page on Nov 8, we had something happen. Our new computer simply died. Died! It would not start. Tried all the tricks that normally work and - nothing. 'Well', I thought, 'St Michael, it is pretty obvious to me that some one does not want this page to go up! And that someone is the devil.'. It was a bit obvious - but there was an answer beyond our ability - so I prayed. And the answer was there. 'Call Michael' I missed the point so I prayed to St Michael and said ," I did pray to you, St Michael'. 'Call Michael' , I heard again. 'Oh - Mike, of course!" So I blessed myself and crossed my fingers, dialed the number for our ISP and Mike Nuttal answered (I never get him on the phone, he is always either on call or busy). He was over in minutes - and he worked miracles with unknown buttons and we were up and running again. ' Some kind of weird fluke', he said, 'probably won't happen again.' Thanks Mike! (Both of you)

... I GOT GOOSE BUMPS ...
Well, the rosaries arrived and of course they are just wonderful and perfect. I just now saw the new St. Michael chaplets and again I am speechless. They are fantastic and I got goose bumps reading the story about the computer mishaps. Diane C (Sacred Relics OK)

... WELL, THAT'S NOT THE END OF THIS SAGA, DIANE! ...
On friday, Nov 11, I tried to upload some corrections on this page and one of our four computers gave a loud bang and the screen went blank. Time for a prayer to St Michael. Finally, got it up and running but could not get back on the internet. So tried another computer, no internet connection. tried the one that I use to do the site, no internet.

All the computers were working but could not get on the web. We checked and confirmed that dreamscp.com (our ISP) was working so it had to be us. Carol, one of the guild, offered her computer so planned to drive over to her house - and the car, (new battery) would not start. No computer, no car!

So called our other Mike ( our ISP man ). He was kind enough to come on a sunday morning, fixed all three computers and even jump-started the car! (Thanks, Mike) The mystery will remain, since the computers are wireless and not connected to the one that caused the original problem. Now a prayer to St. Michael and we will see if this uploads without further ado! RW
