A SAILORS PRAYER
Mary, Star of the Sea, guide us on our way' ....
Many a sailor has prayed this in their hearts. Perfect for the lover of
the sea as it feels like a piece of glass - with a wonderful history -
found on a sandy beach, worn smooth by the unending tossing surf.
The topazy/bronze sides frame the oval shape in such a way as to remind
us of God's continuing and patient process of forming us into the likeness
of himself through Mary. A ten bead or one decade chaplet for standard
rosary prayers. Limited. Originally called 'Star of the Sea', it only seemed
right to open this one up to Caridad as both devotions represent Mary and
the sea. Names below only identify the difference but interchangeable in
your devotional prayer time.
STAR OF THE SEA - CARIDAD?
The two chaplets below have a beautiful medal of
Our Lady of Caridad (Patroness of Cuba) and we might ask why? Mary is Mary
regardless of the title bestowed on her by various apparitions, groups,
countries or families. Mary as Star of the Sea (Stella Maris) and
the Virgin of Caridid (Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre) each have
a long history. Star of the Sea dates back to at least the 9th century
as Patroness and protector of those at sea. The legend of Caridad
dates back to the 1600s.

THE BEADS
PATER BEAD: The Pater bead used on the Caridad
VI is a new discovery from Mexico called 'Rainbow Calsilica' The color
range is remarkable and has become very popular with South Western Jewelers.
Each one is totally different, each a rare beauty. AVE BEADS: The teal
blue flat Ave bead called "Table Cuts' or 'Two Windows' is new but
from an old glass bead mold (Czech) It is truly the color of Mary and of
the sea. Edges are a beautiful Picasso type mix of mottled bronzy topaz.
The blue seems to reveal the mysteries of the inner eye. (I have to wonder
if God has blue eyes?)
