MILK and WINE IV
SOFT WINE COLORED
ANTIQUE 1950's - GERMANY
This rosary
has been very much loved over the years as this is the 4th edition.
The beads chosen for this series are a soft, milky wine color and are antiques
from the 50s (Germany). We have chosen a rock for the Pater beads for two
reasons. 1. to represent the strength of Joseph and 2. for the cave called
'The Milk Grotto' in Bethlehem. But this is not an ordinary rock
in our rosary, it is opal, Peruvian opal. One of our favorite all time
stones.
WE HAVE USED ANTIQUE BEADS (GERMANY 1950s)
AND THE PATER IS PERUVIAN OPAL.

It is as
if this bead is a time capsule, recording 2000 years of love between Mary,
Jesus and each of us. We have set precious metals from Germany with
this one, cast from old rosary pieces that must have had a rich history
of prayer.

~ THE MILK GROTTO
~
In Bethlehem,
near the Nativity Grotto, there is a small chapel built over an ancient
site called the Milk Grotto. It is visited by Christian and Muslim women
alike who ask for intercession of Mary for healing and for the ability
to make nursing easier for mothers. Mary's milk was also an early devotion
of the new church and looked upon with great reverence.
+
The Milk Grotto
is an irregular Grotto hewn from living stone and it is believed that when
Mary and Joseph were fleeing to Egypt, hiding from Herod's soldiers, they
stopped so Mary could to nurse the baby Jesus. Some of her milk trickled
down causing the stones to turn white. It is also the traditional site
(recorded since the 7th century), where many of the innocent victims killed
by Herod the Great after the birth of Jesus, are believed buried .
