**LATIN AMERICA / SPANISH INFLUENCE**
This double cross barred crucifix with two angels, miraculously appeared in the little Spanish town of Caravaca during the 14th century. Tradition has it held fragments of the true cross. Caravaca is believed to be the military stronghold during the struggle to remove the Moors and bring back Christianity to Spain.

**16c 'YA LA LAG' CROSS**
Traditional Christian cross made in Yalalag (Oaxaca Mexico). Many variations, medals, birds, pomegranates or crosses hanging from either end of the extended arms of the cross. Sometimes pendants larger than the cross itself. The crosses range from 2 to 6 inches. Usually worn around the neck on a string of beads.

Believed to be pre 16 c Mexico, as similar seen in Spain. Over time took on a more Latin American design. History shares that when Cortez (1518) came to this land, women greeted them wearing triple crosses around their necks.
