OOPS! - IS IT BAD TO CAST
LOTS?
In scripture there are up to 70 times the term
'Casting Lots' is mentioned. It was the standard way to make decisions
in various bible trnaslations. we could not find any that were consedered
'evil'.. It may have its roots in the early Iphod (Breastplate of decision)
worn by the temple priests. Two discs (Urim and Thummim) were tossed for
decision making. (Back on one side and white on the other).

When we hear the term, we think of the casting
of lots for the garment of Christ at the crucifixion to complete scripture
(see John 19:24: ' So they said to one another, "Let's not tear it, but
cast lots for it to see whose it will be," in order that the passage of
scripture might be fulfilled (that says): "They divided my garments among
them, and for my vesture they cast lots." This is what the soldiers did.
Psalm 22:19: 'they divide my garments among them; for my clothing they
cast lots.' Also in Joshua 18:1-10 in the dividing of the land for the
Children of Israel, but also see Acts 1:15-26 when Mathias was chosen
to replace Judas.
Remember, anything that leads us to the Christ of
Salvation is good. (The devil never leads one to Christ.)
