MARY MAJOR - OUR LADY OF THE SNOWS - ROME
![]() |

Saint Mary Major, Our Lady of the Snows. A wonderful tradition here as Mary appeared to Pope Liberius (352-366) and told him she wanted a church built on Esquiline Hill. That she would leave a sign. Why? Because it would embrace and honor her eucharistic son, Jesus. The next morning the Holy Father rushed up the hill and there - in a perfect rectangle - snow had fallen. This wonderful miracle happened on a very hot morning on the 5th of August, 358 AD. + TODAY, ITS WHITE ROSE PETALS St. Mary Major was built in the mid 5th century after the council of Ephesus had officially ruled on the divine origin of the virgin birth of Christ. It is one of the four patriarchal basilicas of Rome. On the feast day of Our Lady of the Snows, white rose petals are dropped from the ceiling of this church in honor of the event. ROSARY

Dedicated to the Basilica of St Mary Major in Rome, this rosaary is truly a Marain blue! The antiqued ends add to the richness of the bead design that comes from old 'window' glass molds when each bead was individually made by hand from molten glass cane. the Filigree Pater are hand made in precious silver. The crucifix is hand cast from an old rosary piece. All add up to a beautiful rosary. + The chaplet is in the traditional 'all in oue loop' for easier praying. |

20 Happy the man who meditates on wisdom, and reflects on knowledge; 21 Who ponders her ways in his heart and understands her paths; 22 Who pursues her like a scout and lies in wait at her entry way; 23 Who peeps through her windows and listens at her doors; 24 Who encamps near her house and fastens his tent pegs next to her walls; 25 Who pitches his tent beside her and lives as her welcome neighbor; 26 Who builds his nest in her leafage and lodges in her branches; 27 Who takes shelter with her from the heat and dwells in her home.
