Jade may be found in various parts of the world. China and Latin America are the most popular places although some is found in Europe. In Central America, it was highly treasured by the Aztecs, Mayans and Toltecs, and was used in art as it was easy to carve. + There are many qualities of Jade. Jadeite is the most treasured of the Jades and comes in many colors although the green remains most popular. Lavenders, pinks, yellows and whites are some of the more popular and treasured colors. Serpentine is also from the Jade family. Recently an excavation revealed an ax head over over 5,000 years old. |
