ABOUT BRONZE COIL DISK BEADS
The African coil disks we are using for the Pater beads are antique. Their history is an interesting one and research has given us several sources for these beads. They are trade beads from the Asante Tribe dating from 1800 - 1900. The technique used to cast or reproduce these designs is called 'lost wax'. Our collection, as with all we have seen are not exactly alike. Some actually have places where the casting was incomplete, which adds to their beauty. We have also seen them identified as 'Antique Baoule (Tribe) beads and often found on the Ivory Coast. May not be able to replace when gone. A smaller version are called 'Sun Beads' and are from Nigeria.

The theme of 'Sister Moon' was perfect for this rosary - a universal merging of Africa and Europe, we couldn't resist! Actually, we also loved the roundness of the disk and the moon!

~ CANTICLE of  BROTHER SUN ~
Most High, all-powerful, all good, Lord!  All praise is yours, all glory, all honor, and all blessing.  To You alone, Most High, do they belong. No mortal lips are worthy to pronounce Your name.  All praise be Yours, my Lord, with all your creatures,  and first my lord Brother Sun,  Who is the day and through whom You give us light.  And he is beautiful and radiant with great splendor;  and bears a likeness of You, Most High One.  'All praise be yours, my Lord, through Sister Moon and Stars; In the heavens you have made them, bright and precious and fair.'
+
Praised be You, my Lord, through Brother Wind,  and through the air, cloudy and serene, and every kind of weather  through which You give sustenance to Your creatures.  Praised be You, my Lord, through Sister Water,  which is very useful and humble and precious and chaste.  Praised be You, my Lord, through Brother Fire,  through whom You light the night  and he is beautiful and playful and robust and strong.  Praised be You, my Lord, through our Sister Mother Earth,  who sustains and governs us,  and who produces varied fruits with colored flowers and herbs.
+
Praised be You, my Lord, through those who give pardon for Your love  and bear infirmity and tribulation.  Blessed are those who endure in peace  for by You, Most High, they shall be crowned.  Praised be You, my Lord, through our Sister Bodily Death,  from whom no living man can escape.  Woe to those who die in mortal sin.  Blessed are those whom death will find in Your most holy will,  for the second death shall do them no harm.  Praise and bless my Lord and give Him thanks  and serve Him with great humility.

St. Francis - 1224 - Assisi Italy

 ... a perfect size for traveling ...
It is just beautiful! It is the first "natural" rosary I have ever had and I love it! It has such a wonderful rustic yet elegant quality! I love the carved Paters and the sun and moon beads are perfect! I will love using this rosary, especially at those times when I need to remind myself to "keep it simple". It is also a perfect size for traveling with which is an added benefit I hadn't even thought of!

I am always surprised and yet not at all surprised when I receive a rosary from the guild. The surprise is in opening the package and seeing the rosary "in the flesh". But I am never surprised by the quality workmanship, artistry, and care that is always there to be counted on!  Many thanks and Blessings to all.  Andrea Zysk
