OLIVEWOOD BEADS FROM BETHLEHEM
Scripture tells us that Olivewood is not just any wood, it holds special blessings from heaven.  We have tried for several years to get a high quality olivewood bead from Jerusalem but because of the conflict in the area we lost contact with two suppliers and left it in the hands of the Lord.  Recently, we were contacted by a group at the Basilica of the Nativity in Bethlehem.  We were deeply impressed with the quality of their work when we received our first shipment. And understood why they are called to supply the Vatican with their work.

This rosary is dedicated to and hopefully reflects the essence of the beautiful church built over the birth place of our Lord, Jesus Christ in Bethlehem.  The silver Pater beads represent the many hanging silver lamps above the altar and the birthplace of Jesus in the grotto.  The silver lamps are to be seen in many of the old churches in the area such as the altar over the site of the crucifixion of Jesus (Church of the Holy Sepulcher.)

It is believed by the community in Bethlehem 'that in the coming years it will be so hard to find Bethlehem olive wood and all the crafts and articles that are made from this wood will become collector's items.'

GENESIS
In the beginning Genesis speaks about how the Lord made trees 9 Out of the ground the LORD made various trees grow that were delightful to look at and good for food, with the tree of life in the middle of the garden and the tree of the knowledge of good and bad. And more about the garden of Eden in 2:9  A river rises in Eden to water the garden; beyond there it divides and becomes four branches.

In 3:22-24 the Lord goes so far as to protect the tree of life:  Then the LORD God said: “See! The man has become like one of us, knowing what is good and what is bad! Therefore, he must not be allowed to put out his hand to take fruit from the tree of life also, and thus eat of it and live forever.” 23 The LORD God therefore banished him from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he had been taken. 24 When he expelled the man, he settled him east of the garden of Eden; and he stationed the cherubim and the fiery revolving sword, to guard the way to the tree of life.

PROVERBS
In Proverbs there are several entrys on the Tree of Life: Regarding Wisdom, 'She is a tree of life to those who grasp her, and he is happy who holds her fast. (Prov 3:18). And'The fruit of virtue is a tree of life' (11:30). Proverbs speaks of hope and a soothing tongue: 'Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a wish fulfilled is a tree of life. (13:12) and'A soothing tongue is a tree of life, but a perverse one crushes the spirit.' (15:4)

 REVELATIONS
There are wonderful, mysterious and firm words to be shared to the churches (people) in Revelations regarding the Tree of Life. “Whoever has ears ought to hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the victor I will give the right to eat from the tree of life that is in the garden of God.”(2:7).  In 22:2 it points out that the Tree of Life not only produce fruit all year around but is used for medicine  'Then the angel showed me the river of life-giving water, sparkling like crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of its street. On either side of the river grew the tree of life that produces fruit twelve times a year, once each month; the leaves of the trees serve as medicine for the nations.Certainly there is a sense of preparation before entering the Holy City " Blessed are they who wash their robes so as to have the right to the tree of life and enter the city through its gates. (22:14). And in verse 19 there is a strong warning,  ' and if anyone takes away from the words in this prophetic book, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city described in this book.
