HAND CARVED FLOWERS with RHODOCHROSITE PATERS

A DELIGHT TO HOLD AND PRAY
Each of these precious flowers is hand carved so that no two are alike yet similar. They are carved from Yak bone then dyed a rich dark brown. We delighted over the effects when completely strung into a rosary with the beautiful variegated rose Rhodochrosite Paters that have been hand carved into a swirl design. Tiny hand pressed glass flower beads pop out of the sides of the Paters in an old and traditional design. These creamy antique Czech beads are very old, probably antique.

TINY ANTIQUE FLOWERS SPROUT OUT OF EACH END OF THE PATER BEAD SUGGESTING LIFE. A BEAUTIFUL NAME FOR A GARLAND OF LITTLE FLOWERS.

RHODOCHROSITE
The name rhodochrosite is from the Greek word for rose. It was mined by the ancient Incas (Catamarca Argentina) in silver mines as stalactite and stalagmite growths, thus the 'Rosa del Inca' (rose of the Incas) or 'Inca Rose' name often used for this gemstone/mineral. Cut cross sections of the stalactite and stalagmite reveal concentric bands of light and dark rose colored layers. These specimens are carved and used for many ornamental purposes.

Rhodochrosite is the official state mineral of Colorado. It was designated by the state representatives and senators and signed by the governor on April 17, 2002. The rhodochrosite that led to this action is the "highly prized red rhodochrosite crystals from the 'Sweet Home Mine' in Colorado. Specimens from this mine are often large and are world renown.

Hand carved flowers (9mm flat) carry designs on both sides. Antique Pater beads are a delightfully carved swirl of Rhodochrosite stone. The cross has 4 rosebuds, one at each end and the center is of Our Lady. Beads are almost gone, unable to replace.
