DRAWN FROM
THE LIFE OF CHRIST
A Rosary Series dedicated (Oct 02- 03) to world peace and the family, and the new Mysteries of Light.  The first ones are long gone but very popular so added more as originals sold out. The "mysteries of light" are drawn from the life of Christ, and his public revelation of his divine nature and mission. (see below)

THE MYSTERIES OF LIGHT
THY HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THERE
This was a major event, a wonderful event in the history of the rosary. Changes are rare.  It is believed to be inspired by a very holy priest, Blessed George Preca (d.1962). This new series of mysteries is called for - as if it has always been there.  Included below is a list of the mysteries with information to date regarding the prayers and sequence guide lines.

AVE BEADS: These old beads from Gablonz are lamp work, hand made individually because they are all different in color and a bit in size. We purchased them with a group of beads from the same period, no later than the 50s and possibly as early as the 20s.   Hold these  beads up to natural light and they all appear to be the same lovely butterscotch color. PATER BEADS:Crystal cube Paters are Swarovski and are framed with antiqued filigrees. Note the beutiful center and crucifix, cast from antiques and available in solid bronze or sterling silver.

~ ABOUT the MYSTERIES ~
 YEAR OF THE ROSARY
On October 16, 2002 JP II celebrated his 24th anniversary as the Holy Father. At this time, he made two wonderful announcements:  1. This is the YEAR OF THE ROSARY and  2 . A rare change in the rosary itself - a new mystery called the 'MYSTERIES OF LIGHT' (LUMINOUS MYSTERIES), represented by 5 decades of the rosary prayer honoring the ministry of Jesus on earth.
+
1.  BAPTISM IN THE JORDAN - Beginning of His public life
(2 Corinthians 5:21, Matthew 3:17)
2. WEDDING OF CANA - His self manifestation and
First miracle  (John 2:1- 12)
3. PROCLAMATION OF THE KINGDOM - Call to Conversion
(Mark 1:15, Mark 2:3-13; Luke 7:47-48, John 20:22-23))
4. TRANSFIGURATION - Revelation of His glory
 to his Apostles (Luke 9:35)
5. INSTITUTION OF THE EUCHARIST - Sacramental expression
of the Paschal Mystery (John 13:1).

 THE TRADITIONAL ROSARY MYSTERIES:
5   JOYFUL MYSTERIES
5   SORROWFUL MYSTERIES
5   GLORIOUS MYSTERIES
and now
5   LUMINOUS MYSTERIES or MYSTERIES OF LIGHT
+
“While I am in the world, I am the light of the world”
(Jn 9:5).

THIS WILL NOT CHANGE THE CONFIGURATION OF THE ROSARY
AS WE KNOW IT, IT WILL SIMPLY COMPLETE IT BY RESPONDING TO
THE MINISTRY OF CHRIST.

THE HOLY FATHER COMMENTS ON EACH
OF THE NEW MYSTERIES:
 FAMILIAR EVENTS
+
BAPTISM IN JORDAN
"The Baptism in the Jordan is first of all a mystery of light," the Pope writes. "Here, as Christ descends into the waters, the innocent one who became 'sin' for our sake (cf. 2 Corinthians 5:21), the heavens open wide and the voice of the Father declares him the beloved Son (cf. Matthew 3:17 and parallels), while the Spirit descends on him to invest him with the mission which he is to carry out."
+
WEDDING AT CANA
"Another mystery of light is the first of the signs, given at Cana (John 2:1- 12), when Christ changes water into wine and opens the hearts of the disciples to faith, thanks to the intervention of Mary, the first among believers,"
+
CALL TO CONVERSION
"Another mystery of light is the preaching by whichJesus proclaims the coming of the Kingdom of God, calls to conversion (cf. Mark 1:15) and forgives the sins of all who draw near to him in humble trust (cf. Mark 2:3-13; Luke 7:47-48): the inauguration of that ministry of mercy which he continues to exercise until the end of the world, particularly through the Sacrament of Reconciliation which he has entrusted to his Church (cf. John 20:22-23),"
+
TRANSFIGURATION
"The mystery of light par excellence is the Transfiguration, traditionally believed to have taken place on Mount Tabor. The glory of the Godhead shines forth from the face of Christ as the Father commands the astonished Apostles to 'listen to him' (cf. Luke 9:35 and parallels) and to prepare to experience with him the agony of the Passion, so as to come with him to the joy of the Resurrection and a life transfigured by the Holy Spirit.
+
"A final mystery of light is the institution of the Eucharist, in which Christ offers his body and blood as food under the signs of bread and wine, and testifies 'to the end' his love for humanity (John 13:1), for whose salvation he will offer himself in sacrifice."
 WHEN SHOULD IT BE PRAYED?
"Where might the 'mysteries of light' be inserted?" asks the Pope. "If we consider that the 'glorious mysteries' are said on both Saturday and Sunday, and that Saturday has always had a special Marian flavor, the second weekly meditation on the 'joyful mysteries,' mysteries in which Mary's presence is especially pronounced, could be moved to Saturday. Thursday would then be free for meditating on the 'mysteries of light.'

~ COMMENTS ~
... I THINK OF SERVICE TO GOD ...
I received the Mysteries of Light rosary last Thursday. There are really no words to describe the beauty of the new rosary. The colors are inspired.  This rosary is so comfortable in my hands "it prays nicely".  I just love it!!  I held the beads in my hands admiring their awesome beauty.  I closed my eyes and meditated for awhile and was taken back to Ladysmith, WI where I spent a part of my life in the convent.  The Servite Order or Servants of Mary.  It has been along time since I remembered my years there, very good years.  I believe through this rosary from the
guild that  touched me, Our Lady reminded me to pray and serve her Son in whatever way He guides me in life.  When I pray this rosary I think of service to God, Our Lady and my fellow human beings. Aleta T (DC)

... ONE OF JPII's BEST CONTRIBUTIONS ...
What an incredible addition he has given us...  Not since Pius have we had this bold a statement in our Church.  I am  sure it will go down as one of JPII best contributions.  ILY Mary B (VA)

... WE ALL NEED MORE HOPE IN OUR LIVES ...
Your new rosary to commemorate the five new Illumination Mysteries is simply lovely!  The golden colors beautifully symbolize the joy of our faith that comes from the great gift of Our Lord's limitless love for us and especially the illumination of the world that occurred from Our Lord's ministry on earth.  He opened our eyes to the truth and blessings of His Word.  What a fitting way to celebrate these five wonderful new Mysteries of the rosary!  What a cheerful, joyful rosary with which to pray!  We all need more joy and hope in our lives. God's blessings always,  Mary S (IN)

... EVERY ONE SHOULD MAKE ONE
IN HONOR OF THESE NEW MYSTERIES ...
Your newest rosary, honoring the Mysteries of Light, is just beautiful! (as I knew it would be) The concept itself is a wealth of inspiration, and I can't wait to  get to work on my own.  Maria K (MS) - VIAROSA
