 GUARDIAN ANGEL PRAYER
ALSO ST MICHAEL/ARCHANGEL CHAPLET PRAYER
This is a beautiful prayer - and was shared by one of the guild members.  It seems to be a shorter version of the St. Michael the Archangel chaplet prayer. We have found several versions of this, all of which are said on 9 sets of 3 and address the 9 choirs of angels in heaven.

Instead of leaving it out of the list - because of this confusion  - we have simplified what we have found and encourage you to check the web for a more traditional form of this chaplet if you prefer. The St. Michael medal seems to be standard along with other angel medals.  Here we have used a beautiful Guardian Angel medal with St. Anne and Mary on the other side.

ON THE MEDAL OF THE ANGEL
O  God come to my assistance - O Lord make haste to help me
Glory to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit

~ PRAYER to ST MICHAEL ~

 St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in Battle; Be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke Him, we humbly pray, and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into Hell, Satan and all the other evil spirits, who prowl through the world, seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

 ORIGIN OF THE PRAYER
 On October 13, 1884, Pope Leo XIII (1878 - 1903) was celebrating the Mass in the Vatican Chapel, when he was confronted by a word/vision.  (This event precursed by 33 years - to the day - the sun dancing in the heavens at Fatima.)  This word/vision was so powerful that those present (a few Cardinals and members of the Vatican Staff) said he turned ashen white and they feared for his life. For 10 minutes he was as if in a trance. When he came to, he said, 'Oh, what a horrible picture I was permitted to see!'

He later shared that he had seen/heard a confrontation between Satan and Jesus.  There were two voices which seemed to come from the direction of the tabernacle. One kind and loving and the other harsh and gutteral. Satan assured Jesus 'I can destroy your Church' Jesus replied, 'You can? Then do so'.  Satan said, 'I will need more time and power' When Jesus asked how much time and power he would need, Satan responded, ''75 to 100 years - and a greater power over those who give themselves over to my service.' The Lords response was,  'You have the time, and the power. Do with them what you will.'

t After recovering from the initial shock of this vision, Pope Leo XIII brought forth this prayer. He instructed that it be said at the end of all low Masses which was done until the Second Vatican Council in 1964.  The rest is history.

He also proclaimed the rosary which he knew would defeat Satan. The rosary became the subject of 13 Encyclicals by Pope Leo XIII.

~ INSPIRED SCRIPTURE ~

Then war broke out in heaven; Michael and his angels battled against the dragon. The dragon and its angels fought back, but they did not prevail and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. Revelations 12: 7-8
