GUADALUPE - OUR LADY OF THE UNBORN
Our Lady of Guadalupe is known as the 'Patroness of the Unborn'. In the image that miraculously appeared on the tilma of Juan Diego in what is now known as Mexico City, she is pregnant.

Her head is bowed and her hands are in prayer.  This tells us she is not a goddess but bowing to another, to God.  In the The Canticle of Mary we are reminded, 'Holy is His Name'.

~ HELPLESS UNBORN ~

   Heavenly Father, in your love for us, protect us
against the wickedness of the devil, those helpless little ones
to whom you have given the gift of life.

Touch with pity the hearts of those women pregnant
in our world today
who are not thinking of motherhood.
+
Help them to see that the child they carry
is made in your image as well as theirs,
and made for eternal life.
+
Dispel their fear and selfishness and give them true womanly hearts
to love their babies and give them birth
and all the needed care that a mother alone can give.
+
We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Our Lord,
who live and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever, Amen.

O Immaculate Virgin, Mother of the true God
and Mother of the Church, hear the prayer
that we address to you and present it to your Son, Jesus.

Grant peace,  justice and prosperity to our peoples.

of complete faithfulness to Jesus Christ in His Church.

Virgin of Guadalupe, Mother of the Americas, grant to our homes
the grace of loving and respecting life in its beginnings.

~ SPIRITUAL ADOPTION ~

Archbishop Fulton J Sheen was a great advocate of the unborn. He encouraged the spiritual adoption of an unborn child. Pray for an unborn child, one on one, one day at a time for a year, so this unknown child, whom we will probably never meet or know until we are with the Lord, will live.
