USING HANDMADE BEADS BY 'KLEW ESPRESSIONS'

"SPIRITED BEADS"
We quickly sell every rosary using Klew beads. California bead artist Karen Lewis of "SPIRITED BEADS" or "KLEW EXPRESSIONS" is one of my very very favorite bead designers. She has truly mastered the art of 'New Clay' in her beadmaking and every time I see her work, it is as if each one was created by hands from above. Each bead is truly a work of art, no two alike, never to be repeated ...

NEVER TO BE REPEATED
... because each bead is in series depending on the colors chosen for the cane she designs. What is a cane? Think of cinnamon buns and how they are layered, rolled and cut to form the spiral design. A very simple explanation of a very intricate art form. About her work, she says, 'Most Klew bead [ shape ] categories and cabochons will always be in production although the cane design, colors, and application will vary. At most, only a few dozen of each style are made at a time before the featured canes are used up. There is no way the exact design can be repeated again, like fingerprints and snowflakes - one of a kind.

LAYERED LEAVES FORM PODS
Hand formed leaves layered to create a lovely pod shaped Pater bead very similar to LEHB.2707 below which sold quickly. Note center filigree "A" "M" (Ave Maria) and crucifix called "Lord of MIracles' from an early Icon we were told disappeared during WWII.

RARE 'PINCHED' BEADS
These rare Klew beads are pinched into a shape that teases the eye! We have sold several of these in the past and delighted to discover this shape was still available. Each set of 6 may differ from the image above but hard to distinguish the difference. All have the same shape with leaves, exotic flowers and tiny appliqués. Soft lavendar Aves are separated with matte tri beads that shoot of rich rainbow colors on all.

To compliment Karen's beads we have used rare and beautiful lt rose faceted Aves called 'Gem Cuts' (Fine CZ glass) Each Ave bead appears to be clear rose water awash with a flash of inner light - but must be held up to the light to see its inner beauty. Very Limited, unable to replace when gone.

~ ABOUT 'NEW CLAY' ~

NO COLORS PAINTED ON
Note each tiny color which is not painted on but another piece of clay. On the left, a ring of leaves circle around the bead, while the beads on the left show leaves growing out of the top and bottom of each bead. In both cases, these beads are not available any more as once the cane is used up, there is no way to reproduce it exactly again.

STRONG AND BEAUTIFUL WITH TIME
I have seen beads that she has made that are well over 5 years old and used on a key chain and they remain perfect. Nothing has fallen off, and the only visible difference is that they gain an exquisite patina over time. Hard to believe when you realize that every color you see in each leaf, each berry, is a different piece of clay. Nothing has been drawn or painted into the design. It is pure. Once the cane is gone, there is no way to replace it, therefore each series is limited.
