- RED GLASS FILIGREE
[This is] a typical filigree rosary from South Germany. Faceted red glass beads and a really nice cross with wood and mother of pearl (I can´t find the word for intarsia). I estimate the age about the second half of the 18th century. This filigree is a chain rosary as compared to a strung rosary. A wonderful example of this period and very popular with pilgrims who would add religious charms, medals and small reliquaries as mementos from the holy sites as they traveled from place to place. |
~ CONFIGURATION ~ 5 decades of red faceted glass beads with 6 Pater Noster beads of filigree. Note the ring used as the juncture of the circle of beads and the pendant. This is a nice transition. |
