SAINT JUDE PRAYERS
9 BEAD CHAPLET - SAINT
OF HOPELESS CAUSES
Saint Jude Thaddaeus
is thought to be one of the twelve apostles by many scholars. He
is recognized in the Epistle of Jude as the brother of James and possibly
a relative of Jesus. He traveled to Mesopotamia then caught up with Saint
Simon in Persia. They were martyred together in Persia and their feast
day is celebrated on October 28. Over the centuries, Saint Jude has been
asked to intercede in hopeless causes.

say for nine consecutive days.
... what is a novena? ... where does it
come from? ...
A Novena (novem, nine) is nine days of private or public devotion
to obtain special graces. According to New Advent, 'The number nine
in Holy Writ is indicative of suffering and grief'. But it is also
faithfully used by people who are searching for answers, healing and personal
needs.
+
Its history is scriptural. The first novena was prayed
by the 120 disciples including Mary after the Ascension of Jesus which
is celebrated on Holy Thursday. 9 days of intense prayer from the
Ascension of Jesus into Heaven until the Day of Pentecost is recorded
in Acts. The heavenly response to this first novena was tongues of
fire on the first Pentecost and the birth of the New Christian Church.
+
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your Faithful. Enkindle
in us the fire of Your Love.
Send forth Your Spirit, and we shall be created. And You
will renew the Face of the Earth.
+
Let us pray:
O God Who instructs the hearts of the Faithful by the Light of
the Holy Spirit, grant us in that same Spirit to be truly wise and ever
to rejoice in His consolation -- through Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
