JOHN PAUL II ROSARY FROM THE ROSARY WORKSHOP
RDSP.2660, CDSP.2660 - RDSP.2661 - Papal
BE NOT AFRAID II, III
DEDICATED TO  JOHN PAUL II THE GREAT

RDSP.2660 - ('Be Not Afraid II')
RDSP.2661 - ('Unity Rosary III')
WARRIOR, PRIEST, ACTOR, AUTHOR, DEFENDER
Blessed Pope John Paul II (Latin: Ioannes Paulus PP. II, Italian: Giovanni Paolo II, Polish: Jan Pawe? II), born Karol Józef Wojtyla  (18 May 1920 – 2 April 2005)
+
The more we learn about  Karol Wojtyla the less we seem to know about him.  So to dedicate a rosary to him became increasingly difficult. This charismatic Pope has many facets. Warrior, Priest, Actor, Author, Defender of the 2000 year old Church, Defender of Truth.  But at Mass at our church, The Church of the Precious Blood, after the Holy Father's death it became clear. Read what our pastor said below:

WHEN THE AX STRIKES THE SANDAL TREE
Our priest Father Mathew (Perumpally)  paralleled the Holy Father with what happens when the ax strikes down the Sandal tree in his native India.  How the tree releases a most exquisite aroma we call 'sandalwood' .  An aroma that transfers not only to the ax that cuts it down but to the air around it and all it touches.  He likened it to John Paul II and how in death, the sweet aroma of sanctity is released giving even death its place. How in his death, we are becoming more and more enlightened to the Spirit within and how he was inspired by Mary and lived what he spoke, 'be not afraid'. And the question becomes, is he more powerful now than before?
+
NOTHING ELEGANT, VERY SIMPLE, VERY CLEAN
So Sandalwood was the natural choice because of its exquisite aroma carrying prayers heavenward.  The wood is simple, he was buried in a wooden coffin. We added a touch of turquoise blue for Mary on either side of the rectangular shaped Fossilized Coral  Pater beads. Note, no two are alike, just like the Holy Father who reminded us that each of us is 'unrepeatable'.  These soft topazy colors are also the colors under St Peters Basilica where he now rests. Nothing elegant, very simple, very clean.  Just, we hope what he would like us to do. We believe now he awaits our prayer requests so he may intercede for us here on earth.

PRAYER FOR INTERCESSION
FAVORITE PICS OF JPII
... BE NOT AFRAID ...
What to name the rosary?  The name for the rosary was brought forward during Adoration when in prayer. It was so simple and so clear. "Be Not Afraid' was to be the name the rosary we dedicated to John Paul II.  From the first day of his papacy, he said, 'Be not afraid!'  Many have said it over the years, but never was it more powerful than when he said it.  Why?  Afraid of what?   Did he know something others did not know?  As his life and Papacy unfolded and now after his death, we are beginning to see the power in those simple words and the need more than ever to trust in the Lord as world events continue to alarm us.

~ UNITY ROSARY ~
A GRAND MIX OF HANDCARVED AND ANTIQUED BONE
The unity rosary is especially important today with the problems that exist between countries and religions, even in our own country regarding the recent HHS Mandate by our government.
+
A grand mix of handcarved and antiqued bone (9mm) Aves, chosen to symbolize the diversity of faiths, religions and governments - and how John Paul II desired to bring unity into the hearts of the faithful.  JPII was a marian Pope. Center is a filigreed 'A' and 'M' (Ave Maria). Filigreed crucifix suggests the Living Christ.

~ INTERESTING FACTS ~
... HE SPOKE TO THE TRUTH THAT IS WITHIN ...
John Paul II, you spoke to the Truth. You lived in the Truth.  And in this you drew the Truth that lives within each of us into the light - so we could recognize it .... This Truth is born in our spirit, knit into our being from our very beginning in our mother's womb. This Truth we may not always be able to put  a name on - or choose to live by - but it is in all of us and we are each called to answer the Truth with a 'yes' like you.  And when we don't, when we follow our own agenda, creating a god from our own image instead of seeing ourselves as a child of God, we are in dis-ease and when we do we are in ease, we are at peace within.
 +
You never lived in 'your agenda' or 'your idea' but it was 'your desire' to carry the banner of Truth  from one generation to the next during the time given to you on earth.  Your knew your only job was to protect the 2000 year living history of the Truth, of Our Lord Jesus Christ and you entrusted your life to live in the prayers of his church as each of us is called to do.  And you did it! You did it and - in your death we see life, a living Truth that will be forever.  JPII we love you.

... THE MERCY OF GOD IS THE HOPE THAT IS WITHIN ...
... FROM THE DIARY (#1732) OF ST FAUSTINA ...
"I bear a special love for Poland and if she will be obedient to My will, I will exalt her in might and holiness. From her will come forth the spark that will prepare the world for My final coming" (Diary 1732). The Holy Father died in the Year of the Eucharist, within the octave of Easter, on the First Saturday of the Month (Devoted to Mary) and on the eve of the Celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday. (The Liturgy of the Mass in Rome was for Divine Mercy Sunday )
 +
... FROM THE SUN  -  MIRACLE OF THE SUN ...
Another interesting fact is that JP II was often thought of as 'De Labore Solis',  (from the labor of the sun.) On the day of his funeral (April 8 2005) there was an eclipse of the sun as on the day of his birth. He was born during an eclipse (May 18, 1920).   He was 'Mary's Pope' of the 3 secrets of Fatima '(Miracle of the Sun'.) Eclipses of the sun have been thought of as 'signposts' for centuries having heralded events. And the sun rises in the East as did JP II who was from Poland.

... OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY ...
'The devil,' Sister Lucia lamented, 'had focused his assault against the Rosary, which she described as the prayer, after the holy liturgy itself, "most apt for preserving the faith in souls." Devotion to the Immaculate Heart would be key, said the famous nun, and that consists of considering the Blessed Mother as the "seat of mercy, of goodness, and of pardon and as the certain door by which we are to enter Heaven." "There is no problem, I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot resolve by the prayer of the Holy Rosary," she reassured. "With the Holy Rosary, we will save ourselves. We will sanctify ourselves. We will console Our Lord and obtain the salvation of many souls."

2 FAVORITE PICS OF JPII
These two pictures are over our worktable at the Rosary Workshop. The one on the left is a great reminder of his love for camping with friends as Father Karol Jozef Wojtyla  before he became the bishop of Kraków. Lovingly known to family and friends as Lolek (a nickname that translates as "Chuck").

+
The picture on the right is from a post card we have had for ages. (Photo Rene Leveque) shows Pope JPII mimicking the photographers as they were busily capturing his image with sea of flashing lights.  While in Rome we cheered him as he came forward in his Pope Mobile.  Once in front of the mike he laughingly  said, 'Stop, Stop, We will be here all night!" And of course that called for more applause! A great sense of humor!

PRAYER FOR JOHN PAUL II's INTERCESSION
Published by Rome Diocese
VATICAN CITY, JUNE 23, 2005 (Zenit.org).- The Diocese of Rome published the written prayer to implore favors through the intercession of the late Pope John Paul II.  The prayer is being disseminated by the postulator of the cause of his beatification, Monsignor Slawomir Oder, of the Diocese of Torun, Poland. The monsignor is currently judicial vicar of the Court of Appeals of the Diocese of Rome.  In the last phase of the process of beatification, proof will be required of a miracle attributed to Karol Wojtyla's intercession. The process of beatification will officially begin June 28. (Released through Zenit.org)
O BLESSED TRINITY
We thank you for having graced the Church with Pope John Paul II and for allowing the tenderness of your Fatherly care, the glory of the cross of Christ,  and the splendor of the Holy Spirit, to shine through him.
+
Trusting fully in Your infinite mercy and in the maternal intercession of Mary, he has given us a living image of Jesus the Good Shepherd, and has shown us that holiness is the necessary measure of ordinary Christian life and is the way of achieving eternal communion with you.
+
Grant us, by his intercession, and according to Your will, the graces we implore,
hoping that he will soon be numbered among your saints. Amen.
