WILD GOOSE STUDIO - pg 3 of 3
WALL PLAQUES - HAND CAST IN IRELAND - BRONZE AND IRON
Each of these beautiful reminders of our faith
is hand cast in bronze and in iron. A shell is formed in metal then filled
with a resin. This creates a plaque that is not only beautiful but
lighter in weight as if solid it would be very heavy an very expensive.

To take a visual tour of the Wild Goose Studio in Kinsale Ireland, to enjoy seeing how these beautiful wall plaques are made, enter VISIT STUDIO above. This beautiful collection was inspired by and reproduced from centuries of Celtic folk art found throughout Ireland. We discovered their work while visiting the Waterford Crystal Factory Gallery in Ireland. So taken by the quality of the work, we purchased a cross for each member of the Rosary Guild along with one for each of our children. A truly beautiful tribute to the people of the world who have Irish blood (and we all have a little Irish running in our veins), even if it is only in spirit. The spirit of the Irish is a spirit of survival and a true sense of the joy of life! Each item below carries this spirit so deeply ingrained in its people!
Glory be - tis good to have an Irish Mother in Law
from Roscommon! My children all have Irish blood running in their veins
and each one carries this spirit of joy! Be sure and see the whole line!

5.25 in. diameter - 'I now remind you to stir into
the flame the gift of God which is within you.' St
Paul's 2nd letter to Timothy, Ch 1 Vs 6. A powerful
invocation to acknowledge the divine in all of us, and to make it manifest
in our daily lives. From pagan times, fire has been used to represent holiness,
and as a way of celebrating it; a candle flame can also be a route to stillness
and as a powerful agent for change.

5.5 in x 4.75 in. - A 12c panel from Ardmore
Cathedral, Co Waterford. Romanesque art depicts feelings rather than symmetry.
this couple with nervous knees are awkward and uncertain , as the implication
of the forgotten act weighs upon them. "She took the fruit thereof
& and did eat & gave to her husband with her, and he did eat'
(Genesis)
The scene marks a fundamental change in the relationship of God and man, nature and man, woman and man. the balance has altered. the woman as equal has been dispossessed. The reign of the goddess has ended. The serpent, an emblem of immortality ( because of its ability to shed its skin and hibernate under ground) is also an emblem of the wisdom of the goddess; it is now a harbinger of death. 'Whilst Adam slept, Eve from his side arose: Strange his first sleep should be his last repose' Anon BRONZE OR IRON For more information, pricing

5 x 3.5 in. - From the Claddagh ring,
the supreme Celtic symbol of love and friendship. the union of the hands
around the heart (the tangible hanging on to the romantic) is surmounted
by a crown (a regal indication of the sacred nature of the relationship).
For the Celts the sacred lies beyond the body, as well as through the body.
'The secret of our being, is not only to live but to have something to
live for' (Dostoevsky) Claddagh (gaelic for shore) was a fishing village
near ancient Galway. Rings were first made in Kinsale in 1700.

15 x 6 in. - Be still and know that I am
God. Stillness and meditation, an alternative to the confusion of everyday
life, can be a starting point for prayer and knowledge of God. Exodus 3:14
"I am that I am." This declaration of the eternal God expresses his unity
and spirituality. En Exodus, for the Jews in bondage, it was an assurance
of the fact of deliverance, but not the means. 'Art has something to do
with with achievement of stillness in the midst of chaos. A stillness which
characterizes prayer, too, and the eye of the storm ... an arrest in the
midst of distraction' (Saul Bellow).

Many believe the Celtic Cross was a navigational device. (Similar to a sextant, it will measure the angle of the stars and identify both latitude and longtitude.
Read more on the internet about this amazing concept. (This original design, by the Irish artist Kathleen Smyth, was the first carved replica of the Bantry Boat, 1965.) |
12.5 x 5.25 - A curragh or skin covered
boat, with the helmsman urging on four oarsmen as they strike heavenwards
amid a sea of crosses. (Note the boat is vertical on the staff of the original
Kilnaruane Pillar, standing in a field above Bantry Bay. West Cork.) this
amazingly accurate depiction of oarsmen dates from the early Christian
period. It may celebrate St Brendan who in the 6th Century with his
crew of four discovered America some 1,000 years before Columbus. Mythically,
it depicts the journey of Everyman, sailing across unchartered perilous
seas to reach heaven or hell. Or, the Church ferrying its flock to heaven
through seas of adversity.
