WILD GOOSE
A VISIT TO THE STUDIO IN KINSALE IRELAND
What is a wild goose? The lake next to the
studio here in Michigan is home for wild geese. Here they lay their eggs,
nurse and teach their young. School starts about 10 every the morning.
Tiny fluff balls bob in a row behind their teacher. Soon they are
swimming, diving and then one day, they are taking off and landing! Then
they are gone. Gone with their kinsfolk forming a breathtaking sight
as they head south. Yet they are back every spring and proudly bring their
new families back home ...
WILD GOOSE STUDIO - INFORMATION
... But this is not what it means in Ireland. The Wild Geese were the young men of Ireland who left their native land for military service in Europe and America from the 1600s on. Had they stayed home, the gentlemen Irish would likely had found themselves poor and destitute. But because they left, they hoped to retain the titles and honours for their families. Their hope was to retun home one day when things improved but this dream was lost in time.

The most difficult thing was to decide which ones would find their way home to our website. |
James learns how to burn off the strong cords that will be used on the back of the plaques. |
Natalie and James are trying to decide which piece is their favorite. It was very hard. |
Kinsale is a charming little seaport village full of history and excellent cuisine. |
Brightly colored shops line the streets as they work their way down to the waterfront. |
Our committee is making final decisions on the designs to be shipped to the Rosary Workshop in the US. |
