Are you familiar with this rosary born of the Old Yugoslavian Grandmothers Peace Chaplet with its 7 sets of 3 prayers? This prayer knows no specific Denomination - no specific prayer sequence. It begins with 1. praying for peace in ones heart, then 2. ones marriage (reaching out to all marriages.) 3. peace in our family, 4. our neighborhood, 5. nation or country, 6. the world. 7. and unity in the churchs. It grows from peace in our hearts outward to the world. The ideas below are guidlines for your own family prayers.

A FATHER WHO KEEPS HIS PROMISE
My mind went directly to Scott Hahns book, 'A FATHER WHO KEEPS HIS PROMISE God's Covenant Love in Scripture' in which he describes the 6 Covenants of God with his people. The Old Covenant into the New, Salvation History hidden in the Old Testament and revealed in the New Testament. This rosary sequence grows from one person outward - and all for unity in the body of Christ. I was reminded about a prayer the Lord gave me to pray. It was simple. Thank all past generations, those now on earth and those to come.

2. THE TREE OF SUMMER: (In full bloom) Pray for your living family on earth and 2. THE TREE OF FALL AND WINTER: (Leaves slowly falling off of the tree), Pray for your parents, their parents and all who have gone before you and on whose shoulders you now stand. 3 THE TREE OF SPRING: (new growth, flowers and new buds and leaves) Those family members who are yet to come and will carry on.

THE OLD REVEALED IN THE NEW
Jesus is called the New Adam, Seed of Abraham, the New Moses, Son of David, Son of God and the Lamb of God. In this we see the New Covenant concealed in the Old and the Old Revealed in the New. The same as the Old Testament and the New. Scott Hahn helps us to see this progression of God's perfect plan of love and unity:

NEW COVENANT - EUCHARIST - CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE
*When Christ sealed the New Covenant with his blood on the Cross, it was a sign of perfect charity and love. It represents Christ's covenant of love with his bride, the Church. We are the Church, we are the bride.

We enter into this mystery every day in Eucharist which is the very source of Christian Marriage. When we receive Eucharist, we become one body - not only in marriage - but in the fullness of the body of Christ - Past - Present - Future. It also becomes full circle back to the first covenant. (Full circle, never ending, eternal symbol of God.) This chaplet offers each one of us the opportunity to enter into this mystery.

Ask the Lord to open your heart to his will, his love, compassion, healing and forgiveness

begin praying for peace and love in your marriage or all marriages
then move into each of the guidelines below.

*PRESENT MOMENT FAMILY*

Pray this chaplet 3 times around as you would a complete rosary with the 3 mysteries. (one or all each day) Use the Prayers of your choice from above and as you pray for the whole body of Christ, remember the following: 1. Your present moment family, family members alive in this time and space. 2. For the souls of your family members who have died. 3. And for your future family, those who are to come.

Lord, change my heart today to be more like yours. That I may love, think, speak, act, and forgive as you do. That I do not dictate in prayer what I want changed in them but that your will be revealed in them and in me. And that you forgive me for my past judgments, thoughts and words against them.

Almighty and eternal God. May your grace enkindle in all of us a love for the many unfortunate people whom poverty and misery reduce to a condition of life unworthy of human beings. Arouse in the hearts of those who call you Father a hunger and thirst for social justice and for fraternal charity in deeds and in truth. Lord, set my heart at peace by forgiving me for anything I have done or said against members of my family who have died. For babies, mine or others whose lives were ended by abortion or natural causes, before birth. I pray for the souls of my family members and ancestors who are now in the COMMUNION OF SAINTS, for situations or words that have brought destruction to them or others in any way. We ask for healing of the Body of Christ, the Family of God.

Lord, let this prayer first begin in my heart. I pray for my children and those children of other parents who are yet to be born - that they are born - and that their lives not be in danger of abortion - and that they be in your will. I also pray for the conversion of would-be terrorists or evil doers. I pray my future family members live in a peaceful world, beginning with my/our children and their childrens children. Let me adopt an unborn child in the prayer of my heart.
