ANTIQUE GLASS CANE PARALLELS THESE LIVE
2000 was the Jubilee year of God's grace and mercy and we were inspired to do 5 rosaries in honor of 5 very special people. Now 90+ years ago, on Jan 15 1920, John Joseph O'Connor was born in Philadelphia. On May 18th Karol Joseph Wojtyla was born in Poland. A neighbor of Karol's, Helena Kowalska celebrated her 15th birthday on August 25th of this same year. Raymond Kolbe was 2 years into the priesthood when this glass cane was made in nearby Czechoslovakia. We hope you enjoy! The beads in this series are almost gone and unable to be replace.

JESUS I TRUST IN YOU
Inspired by the image of Divine Mercy and the light flowing from his heart - which in turn, points back to his heart of Divine Mercy, the beads of this rosary are crystal with small inclusions of blood red which also remind us of his Eucharistic presence.

HONORING OUR LADY
Mary is the mother of Mercy. In the Litany of The Blessed Virgin she is called 'Virgin Most Merciful'. We ask her son, 'have mercy on us' and he does. We ask Mary, 'pray for us' and she does. She covers us with her heavenly blue garment and these beads reflect her nearness.

We have watched John Paul II open many mercy doors during his Papacy. Yes, every Jubilee, he opened the 4 basilica doors which symbolize an invitation to us to open our hearts more fully to the Lords mercy, but he has also opened doors of forgiveness and unity to all who love the Lord.

HONORING JOHN CARDINAL O'CONNOR
When John Joseph O'Conner became bishop of New York in 1984, his coat of arms included these words: 'There can be no love without justice', (taken from a quote from the Holy Father, 2 weeks after he became Pope.) He lived up to these words as he was a passionate warrior of Justice and Mercy.

HONORING MAXIMILIAN KOLBY
Max Kolbe responded to Gods Mercy when he stepped out to take the place
of a family man, Polish Sergeant Francis Gajowniczek, who had been called
to die in the ovens at Auschwitz. We honor St Kolbe who was
martyred for his merciful compassion.

How wonderful to make rosaries, I as a child would kneel with my Grandma on the hard wood floors (like Olive oyl knees!) until we finished saying the rosary nightly.
