~ AMERICAN BEAD ARTISTS ~
A remarkable surge of bead making (Ancient technique called 'Lampwork' using glass cane and 'New Clay' using Polymer) has blessed our country and we are amazed with the diversity of their work. We now have a lovely collection from the two annual shows we attend: The International Gem and Mineral Show (Tucson) and the largest bead show in the US the Bead and Button Show, (Milwaukee). As time permits, we will be introducing you to these American artists and their work by using their beads in our work including chaplets and jewelry. We hope you enjoy these fine treasures as much as we do!

DID YOU KNOW THAT THE FILIGREE
ROSARY WAS STILL BEING MADE UNTIL RECENTLY?
See
all our Coral Filigreees - RAFR.Series
The filgree rosary (see our History Section) became
very popular in the mid 1600s, when the technique of silver filigree was
first discovered by the jewelery makers of Germany and Austria. For the
next 200+ years it remained a favorite. We found newer ones in a beautiful
religious art gallery in Oberammergau (Germany) during our 2007 trip for
about 350 euros. We were told that filigree rosaries are still being made
in the Bavarian Forest.

Special prayer beads devoted to saints, to the 7 sorrows of Mary (Servite), Franciscan Crown (7 Joys of Mary and Seraphic Rosary) with more to come. Some go back to the 15th century and carry a great history and powerful indulgences. |
|
More of the American Bead Artists series, our newest, not to be missed. Adding more each month, special Paters from fine glass 'lampwork' bead artists. No two alike, each a work of art. |
|
The most elegant of our series, some are one of a kind and will not last long. This is a wonderful place to look even if that is all you can do. Remember, we still do lay-aways - just ask! Especially lovely for collectors. |
|
Honoring our newly emerging American bead artists and their work. Truly inspiring the work of the RosaryWorkshop. See how we have used these works of art in our rosaries, chaplets and jewelry. We hope you enjoy each of these rare beads as much as we do! |

For those very special days in a child's life. Made to be a keepsake, an heirloom to be passed from generation to generation. A treasured gift from grandparents, parents, sponsors, godparents or a loving family friend! |

A beautiful prayer, the Jesus Prayer - Read about these beautiful prayer ropes that come from the days of the new testament and practiced for centuries. Read the history and begin to pray 'Jesus, son of God, have mercy on us.' |
|
Beginning with September, (the first month of the year in the Jewish calendar) and VIRGO (Virgin / Mary), we travel through the constellations, names of the stars and read the ancient story in the sky of the coming Jewish Messiah. Scripture backs this remarkable story right down to the last constellation, LEO (Lion of Judah / Christ). |
|
The very nature of the Rosary Workshop is to open up the brilliant past, share the history and to encourage others to be inspired by the beauty of the rosary as not only a prayer counter but as an artform giving visual praise to the glory of God. |
|
Very popular during the 17 - 19c, these are almost impossible to find anymore but may be seen in private collections and museums. We saw a few new ones in a shop in Oberammergau and were told they were still being made by artisans in the Bavarian Forest area of Germany. |

~ ABOUT PRESSED BEADS ~
There
was a period in the history of bead making - a few centuries ago - when
pressed beads became very popular. Molten glass was drawn into long
thin rods and cooled. These rods could be as long as 20 meters and as thin
as 1 mm. They were cut into 'canes' which were about 3 feet long.
(small seed beads were made this way and called 'drawn beads')
+
This
more workable length allowed the bead maker to soften the glass then press
it into new shapes with the use of tongs that actually molded the glass
into interesting beads. They became so good at their craft that it was
hard to tell the difference between faceted beads that were cut and those
that were molded. Today, many of these shapes from the old molds
are being used again and we are very excited about the opportunity to offer
some of these to you in various forms.
... The Pentagon - 9/11 ...
I have been living in the Washington DC area for
9 years and one of my most profound prayer experiences was when I went
down to the Pentagon on September 11th at 8:30 PM. I had to go out
because the news made it seem like the world was ending. The search
was still on for survivors so the roads were not yet blocked and barricaded.
I lived 4 miles from the Pentagon then. Now I live barely 2 miles
away. I tell you there was a rosary made of human beings linked by
hands that night. It was the most powerful prayer moment I have ever
felt. Brenda D (VA)
... my favourite prayer ...
Twenty-four years ago, on 29 October 1978, scarcely two
weeks after my election to the See of Peter, I frankly admitted: “The Rosary
is my favourite prayer. A marvellous prayer! Marvellous in its simplicity
and its depth.
John Paul II
... thank you for making this purchase easy ...
"What a GREAT website and
nice wonderful service. Thank you so much for making this purchase
easy and enjoyable. I checked out at least 6 other Rosary Bead Websites
and chose yours for the original designs, great prices and beautiful presentation."
Blessings to you, Summer B (USA)
... I'll become a Catholic yet! ...
"I
love your site and look at it often for my own inspiration and upliftment.
I am a bead artist who recently discovered the Rosary as a prayer habit.
Have been making Rosaries for my friends, mostly protestants, but hey,
it can't hurt! Thanks for your beautiful site. I'll become a Catholic
yet! In Christ, Ruth R. (NC)
... his first communion in 1908 ...
I've
been collecting rosaries for quite a long time but none of them are quite
as grand as what you produce. I do have the rosary that was given to my
Father when he made his First Communion in 1908. Keep up your beautiful
work.
Joan M. (MD)
... as our Lady asks ...
I
was at Catholicity Chat room and was told this is a wonderful site for
beautiful rosaries. I agree. I am interested in the world rosary and would
like to pray along with all those who are praying as Our Lady asks us.
I make mission plastic rosaries and distribute them all over the world.

... my rosary most dear ...
Of
all my Catholic religious items, I hold my rosaries most dear. [when]I
am upset, I go to my rosary...Gods blessing... Mimi C. (PA)
... it will be used daily ...
Rare old wine arrived - and
has a warmth and softness that was not apparent in the picture. I knew
when I first saw it that you were making it for me... You can
be sure that it will be used daily. I am a member of the Legion of Mary
so your work will be in constant use in the service of our Lady.
Thanks again, so much. God Bless

... an 'Old World Look ...
Wow! Beautiful work! It took
me two hours of looking back at all the selections to decide which rosary
(actually rosaries) I wanted to purchase. They have an "Old World" look
to them that I really find attractive. Can't wait to receive mine!
